Paper cut, acrylic, watercolor, guache, blasa wood and LOTS of super glue (my poor fingers got stuck together at least 5 times over the weekend).
I've been wanting to try paper cuts for awhile now, and finally got the motivation to do this for an art show I'll be in on Friday (check out my journal if you're in the Los Angeles area and want to come!).
Yes, Exacto is the way to go! Have several back-up blades on hand. Much more control than with scissors. Just a warning, though--it's best to cut just a couple pieces at a time and glue them together before cutting more. It gives your fingers a break, keeps you organized and you won't get so overwhelmed. You'll finish an element or two a day, and that'll give you some sense of accomplishment and keeps you from getting discouraged. Be sure to send me a link if you try it! I'd love to see!
