An early house-warming present to my parents for the home that they're currently building. My mom saw the last paper illustration I did ([link]) and asked for one of a national park.
Sequoia is tied in first place with Zion for my favorite park, so here it is! You can take a look at my blog for close ups and a step-by-step of how I made this one. [link]
Thank you! No, never irritating! My favorite part about deviantArt is exchanging tips with other artists! The paper I use is actually scrap-booking paper. It's thick, durable, acid and lignin free (I have no idea what lignin is, but I imagine it's not helpful when trying to preserve something). I buy whole books of paper if I find a good print or else I can just buy single sheets of the colors that I need.
In this particular one, I also used tracing paper smeared with olive oil to make it transparent.
Thank you! I get a lot of my paper from Michael's Craft Store. The scrapbooking paper is perfect for preservation, and they have some cool textures. Thanks for the tip!

If you haven't tried paper-source.com for some great textured paper you should.
